6 of the best Time Travel Romances you can read today!

Happy Monday, everyone!

2020 has been a bit of a trial for most everyone in the world, with oh so many happenings jamming up the works. At times like these, what could be better than slipping back to a different, dare I say, better time? (Okay, that's up for debate, haha!) If you're looking for an escape that has no mention of face masks, elections, fires, or anything else that's been branded 2020, here's a list of some of my favorite Time Travel Romances available to read today!

Outlander, Diana Gabaldon

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Kamery, everyone lists Outlander as one of the best Time Travel Romances out there. I'm getting sick of seeing it everywhere!"

Trust me. There's a reason it's listed everywhere!

From the amazing and accurate historical detail to the hot romance, this book is HIGH on my list of favorites. Not to mention, it has a wonderful TV adaptation on STARZ that is five seasons in.

If you're going to add it to your list or gobble it up today, there are a few things you should know first: it's part of an ongoing series (so no binging the whole thing at once, grr!). While I love the story, it can get a bit wordy at times and drag. I would suggest taking your time with it, so you can really absorb all the details and take breaks when you're starting to feel worn out by it. The upside to the wordy parts is that it really creates an immersive world and makes you feel like you are right there with the characters. It is absolutely worth pushing through!

A Discovery of Witches, Deborah Harkness

Goodreads

You may or may not know that the All Souls Trilogy involves some time travel. If you didn't.... sorry! It's not exactly a spoiler, so I hope you'll forgive me.

If you love a good paranormal romance, vampires, witches, and glorious historic detail, you will love A Discovery of Witches! The time travel aspect comes in later in the story, but that just makes it all the better. This series has also completed the first season of its own TV show, with the second aimed to start in January 2021!

The trilogy itself is finished, but there are more books after, of which one is published. (It's on my November TBR, if you didn't see it there!).

The Winter Sea, Susanna Kearsley

Goodreads

Amazon

This book made me want to travel to every location I've ever wanted to set a book in and write the entire book while I was there. (Wouldn't that be amazing?!)

There isn't strictly "time travel" as I would think of it in this story; there isn't any character that travels through time. The main character keeps dreaming of her book characters and what they are doing, only to discover her plot points appeared to have actually happened in the past.

I really enjoyed this book and found it to be a complete story, though there is a sequel listed. Add it to your list or grab your copy today and start enjoying!

The Legend of the Bloodstone, E.B. Brown

Goodreads

Amazon

I've only read this first book in The Time Walkers Series, but it was oh so wonderful! I loved that our time traveler went to a people not normally featured in time travel stories, let alone romantic fiction in general. At least, not that I've seen! Learning about a Native American culture and being part of this story was wonderful. I do intend to read more of the series, but have just let time get away from me. I look forward to enjoying the rest of it!

Love Beyond Time, Bethany Claire

Goodreads

Amazon

Another excellent read for lovers of Scottish, Time Travel Romance! This is another start of a series, and I've only read this one book. I believe it is a companion series though, as the storyline was pretty much resolved by the end of this book. I loved the way the time traveler fit into the past--it doesn't say exactly what happens in the book blurb, so I won't say it here either.

The Devil's Heart, Candace Osmond

Goodreads

Amazon

If you're a fan of quick, fun reads, the Dark Tides series is for you! It usually only takes me a few hours to read one of Candace's books (she's got a few time travel offerings if you want to check out her backlist!) and I always find them to be a nice escape from everyday life. They have just enough spice to get your heart racing, but aren't explicit enough to worry about being seen in public while diving in. Y'all know I love the pirate angle as well! This series has five books currently released (all of which I've read) and another slated for April 2021.
